Abstract
Ridge gourd, or Luffa acutangula, has been well studied for its wide range of plant's fruits, leaves, and seeds were the main sources of bioactive substances like flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids. Numerous preclinical investigations had proven its antimicrobial, wound-healing, hepatoprotective, antidiabetic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory microbial. Luffa acutangula qualities has long been used in traditional medicine to treat conditions like diabetes, jaundice, skin conditions, and digestive issues. Because of its low toxicity profile and therapeutic adaptability, researchers have also concentrated on its possible function in contemporary medication development. The purpose of this review was to encourage further research into Luffa acutangula as a potential candidate for pharmaceutical and herbal medicine applications by summarising its phytochemical profile and pharmacological effects.
